Insider guide
Shopping Canal/Riverwalk.
The story
The foot of Canal Street has two malls: the Shops at Canal Place at 333 Canal St, with Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and a cluster of watch boutiques, and the Outlet Collection at Riverwalk at 500 Port of New Orleans Pl on the Mississippi. The first block of St. Charles Avenue, across Canal, adds one old family shop.
It suits visitors staying at the downtown hotels or waiting on a cruise, who want full-price luxury and outlet prices in one trip.
What to Expect
Canal Place's ground level holds Louis Vuitton (Suite 104), with Collect-in-Store pickup for online orders, Tory Burch (103A) and Tiffany & Co., which offers engagement-ring appointments, engraving, cleaning and repair, watch service and glass etching. Watches of Switzerland runs TAG Heuer, Breitling and Grand Seiko from one suite (1.18–1.19), with servicing and private appointments. J.Crew (Suite 124) has men's and women's clothing and suiting. Saks closed here in spring 2026. Across Canal, Meyer the Hatter has been run by the Meyer family since 1894.
Riverwalk is the outlet side: Coach Outlet (Space 105), Kate Spade Outlet (the brand's first Louisiana store, opened in 2020), a roughly 10,000-square-foot Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Nordstrom Rack, Tommy Bahama Outlet and GUESS Factory. Burlington and Bath & Body Works are recent additions. Café Du Monde has a stand inside (Suite 140) for beignets and café au lait.
Best Time to Visit
Riverwalk opens first: Coach Outlet is open Mon–Sat 10am–7pm and Sun 10am–6pm, and Café Du Monde Mon–Sat 9am–7pm and Sun 10am–6pm. Canal Place boutiques mostly open later, Mon–Sat 11am–7pm and Sun 12–6pm. Tory Burch and J.Crew close at 5pm on Saturday, so do Canal Place early on a Saturday or on a weekday. A few newer Riverwalk stores don't post hours, so check the one you want.
If You Only Have an Hour
Stay at Canal Place: compare TAG Heuer, Breitling and Grand Seiko in the shared watch suite, then walk the ground level for Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Tory Burch. Cross Canal for a hat at Meyer the Hatter on the first block of St. Charles.
Where to Eat
Lufu Nola at 301 St. Charles Ave, just off Canal, is a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand for dosa, biryani and tandoor dishes. Restaurant August at 301 Tchoupitoulas St, a few blocks from Canal Place, is MICHELIN Recommended for French technique and Louisiana ingredients in a 19th-century warehouse. Compère Lapin at 535 Tchoupitoulas St, in The Old No. 77 Hotel near Riverwalk, is MICHELIN Recommended for Nina Compton's Caribbean-Creole cooking. For a quick stop, the Café Du Monde stand is inside Riverwalk.
